Looking forward to Star Wars Rebels in the Fall of 2014

After listening to Jason Swank and Jimmy Mac from RebelForceRadio.com. They recapped some ideas that Dave Filoni revealed about the potential story line from the recently announced animated Star Wars series, Rebels coming in the Fall of 2014. Though I, along with many fans worldwide who were sadly disappointed to see The Clone Wars cancelled earlier this year, I'm eagerly excited to see what is to come from this new series.

Check out some of the images below.  If you know who Ralph McQuarrie is, he was the original artist for Star Wars, and helped Lucas sell the original movie to Fox Studios.  His iconic imagery about the galaxy far, far away is amazing.  Paul Bateman, who can be found on Facebook, studied under Ralph and knows a lot about his work!  Dave Filoni promised that Rebels will take on the look that Ralph originally gave Star Wars.  The pics below capture some of that magic.  Enjoy!

Looking forward to the future of Star Wars and a little history about my fandom...

So looking forward to what is coming in Star Wars! For a little history, we must go long, long ago, to 1977, I was 6 years old and I remember my parents taking us as a family to the local theater. It was already starting to get dark. Most of the movies we had gone to as a family at that point had been at the drive-in. This was the first movie I remember going into the theater for. The line to see Star Wars (of which I had no idea what to expect) had gone outside of the theater out to the back parking lot and about a half a block back after it wrapped around the back of the parking lot. We stood outside what seemed liked forever. When we finally got into the theater we sat somewhere in the middle. I remember the loud booming sound from 20th Century Fox with their iconic sound. Then those famous words, Long Ago, in a Galaxy Far, Far Away... And the intro, again with the wonderfully loud John Williams music. The scroll of words came down too fast for a 6 year old mind to take in. The next scene with the rebel blockade runner and the gigantic Star Destroyer that never seemed to end, were amazing! I was glued to my seat from that point forward. I can't tell you how many times I reenacted the initial battle scene with the Stormtroopers and the Alderaanian guards, (so much that my other friends stopped wanting to do it). The sights, the sounds, the characters, the story were amazing!!! I was hooked! I wanted a lightsaber. Of course nothing could be found like today. We made our own. Broom handles, sticks, pretend air sabers, whatever we could do to replay the scene of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader... So much more to share! That is just a snippet of what I will be sharing. If you are interested, stay tuned. I'd love to hear your experiences! Now on to looking forward to the future! I'm excited for Episode 7 and all the potentially new animation (that hopefully Dave Filoni will be in charge of), the potential for new theme park rides at Disney, maybe new theme parks, more new comics, new toys (hmmm... collectibles), and hopefully a live action TV series... Oh did I forget to mention the spin off movies? The future has never been brighter! May the force be with you, always...
